The interesting thing is that it isn’t the “business” that’s so inspiring.
Yes, business is interesting, and I’m really good at it, but it’s the people that inspire me.
My clients, those people, are the reason that I get up so energized each day.
I get up each day to do the work of helping people, my clients, conquer their business problems and feel the rush of success. I get to see my clients enrich their lives and experience joy!
For a long time, I was stuck. I was stuck in a field that seemingly didn’t reward innovation, out of the box thinking and especially caring and connecting to people.
Rather, my main “job” was to keep my client’s books and records straight and make sure that they met all the demands of the government taxation authorities.
After all, that’s what my bosses and clients wanted.
Or so I was brainwashed into thinking.
For years, I was that guy. Your local CPA! Highly educated and experienced. “I do your taxes and keep your company’s books and records straight!” Yes, I made a living, owned a home, went on vacations, sent my two sons to college and served my clients well.
But, something was missing!
Occasionally I would let myself dream of something different, something incredibly exciting and so much more valuable to my clients.
What if I was to help my clients get what they most wanted out of their companies?
What if I were to help my clients experience the joy of running the highly successful company of their dreams?
Now that would really be valuable and inspiring.
As it ends up, I was right all along.
My inspiring clients, really wanted an expert that helped them to grow, a “thinking partner” who would listen to their ideas and help turn them into reality.They really wanted someone they could trust, someone who actually cared about them.
